Tutor for percussion instruments
Jean Pierre Cassar was first introduced to percussion after starting lessons with MPO’s principal percussion Daniel Cauchi. Eventually he enrolled at the University of Malta, while occasionally
working as a part-time musician with the MPO.
Jean Pierre won an audition in 2016 for the post of ’Assistant Timpani and 1st Percussion’ at Ruse State Opera in Bulgaria, where he worked until 2019.
After joining the MYO, Jean Pierre was introduced to the internship program with the MPO in January 2020.
Jean Pierre has completed his Master at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito in Parma in 2021 after studying with Nick Woud (Solo Timpani – Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam) as well as Ilya
Melikhov (Russian National Orchestra)
Jean Pierre also teaches at the Visual and Performing Arts School in Gozo.
